Stopped ?!! ... Why???!!!
Surprisingly a large number of emails have been coming in from people
that are wondering why we aren't doing anymore ear training problems here on the
site.
I say surprisingly because Ear Training 101 was cancelled due to a severe lack
of interest on the part of our visitors. It's costly to do these site
sections, and we treat them rather like TV shows.. Some are hits, and some
are not. The ones that are not hits we can't afford to invest the time,
energy, and money into updating. Ear Training was our lowest rated page,
and because of that, we halted any future updates.
The 26 existing problems and answers will remain online for those who understand
the importance of ear training. Which frankly if I may be blunt.. If
you don't realize the importance of ear training, you're missing a major
aspect of being a musician.. Or at least a good one anyway..
I encourage
everyone to take a whack at these problems, and more importantly listen to what
I'm teaching on both the problem mp3 files, and the answer video lessons.
Ear Training is an important
part of any "good" teacher's curriculum. I sneak it in
all over the place on the site anyway with or without this ear training site
section. I do this in no small part by putting up our mp3 example song tracks
for Vin Heuton, and Beyond VH lessons early, well before the video
and tabs are available in the hopes that people will try to learn them by ear
first. Knowing that in
the end you'll get the right answer from me when the tabs go up a day or so
later, it's a risk free way to train your ear, and not that much different from
how I ran this Ear Training 101 site section when it was active. You can
still do the same thing even if the tabs are already up. Just don't look
at them until you try to figure out at least 1 small part of the example track
by ear first.. It's all up to you. I can only point you in the right
direction..
Thanks,
Jeff Fiorentino
