Solution notes

This problem was a little tricky.  Probably a bit trickier than I noted in its difficulty level.  This was probably about a 5 or so.  The reason being, even though you knew exactly what scale I was using as I told you what it was and tabbed it for you in problem 9 there was a very common issue in the leads I was doing.

I changed 1 note on the 2nd time around and I added in two very hard to pick out harmonics.  I say hard to pick out harmonics because harmonics are the number 1 thing you will argue with yourself about when figuring out a song.  We'll deal with harmonics in Problem 11 but I wasn't surprised at all with the variety of harmonics that were tabbed in the answers that were sent in.  I totally expected that.

This one gave about a third of you no trouble at all but it gave the majority of you a great deal of trouble.  I think some of you will be surprised by the tabs below.  But I also think that this problem was one of our better ones for learning patterns that could actually happen in the real world.  Scale ups that stagger and change and harmonics and bend and releases, it's pretty much all there.  The only thing missing is a speed run, but we'll get to those, don't worry.

Remember, the number 1 thing here is to play how you thought it went along with the mp3 and then play how I say it goes along with the mp3.  And don't worry about the harmonics, we'll get to those but nobody is ever 100% with those anyway, but there are a few tricks.

"Actual" TABS for the problem

Main rhythm riffing

Stratocaster, humbucking pickup, and the 2nd string was slightly out of tune on the mp3.  lol  It was a new string.  It happens though, just another one of those real world mistakes left on the recording.  I can't count the number of CDs I have in my collection where the guitarist is out of tune slightly and I'm trying to learn his song.
