Solution notes

This was a good old blues based rock riff with a lot of half step intervals. These are the most common types of hooks that people try to figure out. This should be great practice for hearing note direction, meaning pitches going up or down, and also learning riffs in general that don't follow logical key patterns. What I mean is this riff contains both the minor 3rd of D and the 3rd of D and it contains both the minor 7th and Major 7th. This could be written in either Dm or D. You can't really apply any help from the key signature of D which is all C's and F's are sharp to try to figure this out.
