Answer notes

For this problem I turned up the overdrive a bit to distort some of the notes and make them a little harder to pick out.  The tips I gave on the problem mp3 seemed to have helped the vast majority of you who sent in tabs for this problem.  It's nice to see that people are listening to the whole mp3.

This track incorporates some mode properties.  A few missed the key, but that's probably because of the F#'s and G#'s and D#'s that were in the riff in spots.  This is VH style riffing, and often times the theory is fuzzy with stuff like this.  Technically I would transcribe it in Am and look at it as some modal properties coming into play.  Either way, it didn't matter much.

TABs

The short video answer is video of me performing the mp3 problem track.  The video should help give you a visual of these tabs and how they apply to the fret board.

Not much more I can say that wasn't already covered on other problems, or the problem mp3 for this one.

** Be sure to apply a slight palm mute for string control.  We talk about string control A LOT on this website, so most of you JFRocks veterans should know what I mean when I say that.

Transition riff

Loosely based on a couple cool VH riffs.  This is part of a Vin Heuton MONSTER of a track that will appear on a future Vin H CD.  It's a good one to mess with though and it fit with the intro part above that I made up for this ear problem..

From here it just repeats again with very little variation.  One of the tricks with riffing like this are the mutes and little things.  The accent notes, or the ones with X's next to them in the tabs are actually quite important to getting a riff like this to sound right when you play it away from the mp3.
